'tis the season, fa la la la la, and all that holiday jazz

wrapping paper or gift bags? wrapping paper...undoing it is part of the fun

real tree or artificial? well...the purist in me says real, but the environmentalist says artificial (I can always get a bunch of pine scented candles, right?)

when do you put up the tree? I buy (if we're going with a real tree) and put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and decorate it the weekend after that

when do you take the tree down? the weekend after New Year's

do you like egg nog? no...I LOVE it!!! (one of the few reasons that I actually GO to Starbucks is for their egg nog latte...yummmmmm!!!)

favorite gift received as a child? hmm, the Super NES, or the leather jacket that matched the one they gave my older sister

do you have a nativity scene? yup, it's a Precious Moments themed set and sooo adorable

hardest person to buy for? pretty much any family member

easiest person to buy for? Lydia

mail or email Christmas cards? definitely mail...but I rarely if ever send them (every year I optimistically buy a set, but I lag and they don't get sent)

favorite holiday tradition? going to see the The Nutcracker Ballet (either in San Fran or Sacramento, depending) with the Sullivan women, every year growing up

worst Christmas gift you ever received? I really don't like to think poorly of ANY gift received but for the sake of answering I'll say the Sublime CDs that my uncle got me two years ago (he got the idea from my amazon.com wish list, but what I actually had on the list were the song books - I already had the CDs, so it was kind of disappointing) I feigned excitement anyway

favorite Christmas movie? Elf, Miracle on 34th Street (both versions), Scrooged, Love Actually, A Christmas Story, The Preacher's Wife, Santa Claus: The Movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and Anne of Green Gables / Avonlea (which aren't really Christmas movies, but it's tradition in the Sullivan/Link family to watch them each year on Christmas Eve) to name a few

have you ever recycled a Christmas present? sort of...I gave the Sublime CDs to Lydia (but not as a Christmas gift - I gave them "just because")

favorite thing to eat at Christmas? peanut brittle

clear lights on the tree or colored? colored on the tree, clear outside

favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night (Martina McBride); The Christians and the Pagans (Dar Williams); Baby, It's Cold Outside (Zooey Deschanel and Leon Redbone from Elf); The Nutcracker Suite (Brian Setzer Orchestra); What Christmas Means To Me (Hanson - don't laugh, I love them); Who Would Imagine A King (Whitney Houston from The Preacher's Wife); All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey); Winter Wonderland (James Taylor) and all of Tchaikovsky's Der Nußknacker Ballett-Suite

travel at Christmas or stay home? I'd rather "stay at home", but I have to go between my mother's and my father's family, so there is some light traveling every year

can you name all of Santa's reindeer? yep, all 9 of them

open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? on Christmas Eve we always open the new pajamas that my mother has gotten us...the rest get opened on Christmas morning / afternoon once I get to my VB family

most annoying thing about this time of year? not living where it snows

favorite ornament theme or color? the fiber-optic faerie ornament set that my mother got me (I love faerie ornaments)

favorite for Christmas dinner? the usuals...it's a lot like Thanksgiving, only with ham instead of turkey

what do you want for Christmas this year? hugs, lots and lots of hugs

who is most likely to respond to this? anyone with holiday spirit

who is least likely to respond? the scrooges, grinches and bah-humbugs
